Diamond Paintings

I have been artfully detoured on what I believe I should be doing, only to realize that I am setting up my own disappointments with my own self-imposed expectations. So instead I’ve adopted a different more positive approach, it’s called just GO WITH THE FLOW!

Maybe you’ve heard of Diamond Paintings? They are similar to cross stitch embroidery and paint by numbers, but instead you are setting small faceted diamond-cut beads onto a preprinted sticky canvas. You then follow the ‘key’ printed on the side for the color layout and with a tool, you pick up the designated color and place it onto the canvas.

This last one I completed was a complete bummer once it arrived and I opened it. It was not anything as portrayed in the description to buy. The photo showed a finished piece with various sizes of sparkling cabochons. Well, it came with only regular sized dots (term for the faceted beads), definitely a misleading ‘sell’. Loving the image I went ahead and completed it, but still wanted to add sparkle to the Madonna’s halo as it was the main reason I purchased her to begin with.

Once my mind began to go beyond the Diamond Painting, it became a mixed media canvas!

I mounted her onto a canvas in which I painted a background onto and added my own sparkles. With the additional space on the canvas I added some diamond dot flowers on the bottom. I am very pleased with the result!

I have now completed three Diamond Paintings and have 3 more lined up. Yes, my addiction is now justified into my mixed media world. *smiling*

February 14, 2019: WHY was Silver Moon in hibernation for 11+ years?

February 14, 2019

I’ll do my best to answer that candidly. A 27 year marriage ended as abruptly as the death of Steve, exactly one decade later.

10 years earlier with the death of Steve I discovered art. This time it was very different. As with the death of my only child, not only did my memory worsen that day, I now found I had even more difficulty focusing on anything and everything. I felt the floor had been pulled out from under me. It actually had, my safety floor… the life I once had, was suddenly gone.

So during the years of not being able to focus on art, my muses showed up in my various hair colors, my living space, and most of all amateur photography. Once in awhile I’d come up with an art piece, but it was far and in between. These little artistic joys kept me grounded throughout the years. I never gave up.

Fast forward to 2019. I am back to my art and ecstatic about it! I have many projects in mind waiting to be created. As before, I have a very special place in my heart to all who have lost a loved one, especially all mothers and fathers who have outlived your children. I hope I am able to reach out to you through my art which is always created by the light of Steven.

Happy Valentines Day.

January 11, 2019: Welcome to Silver Moon Studios

Greetings from “NOT so sunny and warm” Arizona!

As I sit here thinking about my first blog post in at least 11 years? I write with slight trepidation. Yes, it’s been awhile, a very long while in fact. I am just starting to emerge out of my necessary solitary mode, there has been a few attempts in the past few years to resurface but it just wasn’t the right time. So today, here I am and remarkably joyful to be here.

To those who have been a part of my previous art journey, I appreciate you checking my art again. You will see a new awakening within me, a vivid burst of colors. If I wander off again into the edgy-dark-grunge style I once did, I will be popping some light into it. I know I will, as it is all a part of me.

If you are new to my art, welcome! You will soon see my art as it used to be and what it is now.

With Love and Affection,
